Why do we farm?

We farm for many reasons. The have the deep desire to care for the land and the people in our lives. We crave the connection to the food we eat. We know the power that sharing the meal has in building relationships and community. It’s so rewarding to see the smiles on the faces of people as they choose and taste their veggies.

The work of farming is challenging, subject to weather and millions of other factors that are out of our control. It’s exhausting, beautiful, fulfilling, and never-ending. Despite all the challenges, plants want to grow and we are rewarded with wholesome, beautiful, wonderful delicious abundance.

Farming teaches us a compelling idea about feeding people, fostering a community, sustaining livelihood, restoring soil, sequestering carbon, protecting natural systems. Most importantly, farming reconnects us to the land.

Our goal is to bring together farmers, chefs, scientists, entrepreneurs, journalists, thought leaders, and others who can help shape, give voice to a way of eating and cooking that is based on healthy farms, soils, and ecosystems. We hope to pass all of these lessons on to the next generation.

Our story

Terra Amico Farm was started of a new desire to get our hands in the dirt and grow our own organic vegetables for our family and friends. After sharing our heirloom tomatoes with local chefs and neighbors, we received many requests to purchase our tomatoes. The farm was born.

We now supply over 50 varieties of heirloom to local restaurants. We also have an honor cart on the farm where people can come and purchase fresh, organic tomatoes 7 days a week.

Terra Amico Farm also offers canned products. We have sliced, and roasted tomatoes, tomato vinegars, and jellies.
